The SPCA for Monterey County had received a small house in Monterey as part of a bequest. We were delighted to work with Renee Catania in listing the house for sale. Renee did an exceptional job, especially in helping us price the home so it would be competitive in the current market. The home sold quickly for the full asking price. Renee always quickly responded to any questions we had throughout the entire process. We highly recommend for anyone who has real estate needs in the Monterey Bay area.
When we decided to make the move to Pacific Grove from Nashville without knowing many people in the area, my husband found Renee on Instagram, and it was the best thing to happen to us in the entire process. We got on the phone with her, told her a few things we were looking for in a home, and she started sending us listings right away. Some of them we'd already identified on Zillow, but she sent us a new one she thought would be a perfect fit.
She was right.
Once we made it out to PG to house hunt, she took us to a few of the various neighborhoods in the area, and it was the listing she sent us that we ended up making an offer on (we signed the offer docs from our phones at the Monterey Aquarium). During the offer process, she gave us excellent insight to help get the offer accepted.
After that, we were back to Nashville to pack up during the inspection process. Renee handled everything while we were remote—finding the inspectors, getting them out to the property, following up with our questions. It's scary, moving somewhere new. Not being able to physically be there during those critical weeks leading up to closing.
Renee SLAYED it.
We had some issues (as every buyer does) with the home, and she helped us negotiate them deftly and land somewhere that worked for both us and the seller. During the final walkthrough, she was right by our sides. She even climbed up into the attic to check on our list of repairs.
But where Renee really shined was after the closing docs were signed and her part of the process was officially over, helping set us up with a home warranty.
There were a few things during the final walkthrough that weren't addressed, but we didn't want to hold up closing for them. Her husband came out and installed strike plates on the doors, went up into the attic just like Renee had done. Later that night (our first night in the home), we found out the furnace had stopped working. Over the next few days, we had some electrical issues.
Renee was by our side the whole time. She was quick to respond to any questions. Oh, and she bought us the best bottle of Chardonnay we've ever had.
Also, she's 100% hilarious and genuine and someone we expect will be a lifelong friend and contact in the area.
If you're looking for a home in the Monterey area, do yourself a favor and work with Renee. You won't regret it.

Renee was such an asset in selling our parents' home from long distance. Due to logistics, she took care of so many details that we were unable to address in a timely manner. She made the entire transaction as painless as possible and treated my parents with kindness and patience. She and her staff communicated with us in a timely manner, and escrow closed within the timeline she provided at the onset of the listing. Renee was an amazing partner in helping us find the perfect home. For our first tour of homes, Renee quickly learned our needs and began refining our search immediately. Renee would drive by potential homes as soon as they were listed and send us pictures. She would even FaceTime us and walk through potential homes, being mindful of our schedules, and she was always willing to accommodate our schedules (which was challenging since we were on both the East and West Coasts).
